Ohio HBPA and Jack Thistledown Complete VLT Contract Extension

The Ohio HBPA and management at Jack Thistledown have completed a VLT contract extension through October 31, 2026. The contract extension will allow for the purse structure at the upcoming 100-day Thistledown meet to remain at the same levels as they were in 2022 when the average daily purse distribution was an all-time high of over $208,000 at the track.

HIWU Notice on Dietary Supplements and Institution of 30-Day Grace Period

The Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) calls the Thoroughbred industry’s attention to regulations regarding the possession and use of dietary supplements under the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority’s (HISA) Anti-Doping and Medication Control (ADMC) Program. The ADMC Program permits the possession and use of dietary supplements such as vitamins, minerals, herbs, and homeopathic products. HISA ADMC Program Goes Into Effect National HBPA Seeks Preliminary Injunction

The HISA ADMC program was approved by the FTC the morning on March 27th and went into effect that afternoon. The National HBPA filed a motion seeking a nationwide preliminary injunction against the HISA ADMC program the afternoon of March 27th. The motion was filed in Texas and the judge has already approved the schedule proposed by the National HBPA in the motion. HISA’s response is due by Wednesday, March 29th with the HBPA’s response…
