In 2019, the Ohio HBPA is offering a total of over 50 scholarships worth over $50,000 for Ohio 4-H and FFA members. Win money for college!

Ohio 4-H Members

$1,000 Ohio HBPA scholarships will be offered to Ohio 4-H members in each of the 4-H’s nine Ohio districts for a total of 27 $1,000 4-H scholarships. To apply for the Ohio HBPA 4-H scholarships click here.

Ohio FFA Members

Two $1,000 Ohio HBPA scholarships will be offered to FFA members in each of the FFA’s ten Ohio districts. Additionally, 4 at large $1,000 scholarships will be available to FFA members for a total of 24 $1,000 FFA scholarships. To apply for the Ohio HBPA FFA scholarships click here.

Sons and Daughters of Ohio State Racing Commission Licensees

The Ohio HBPA will offer two $1,000 scholarships for Ohio State Racing Commission licensees or sons/daughters of Ohio State Racing Commission licensees in both Northern and Southern Ohio. Those eligible for these scholarships include both backside and frontside employees at any of Ohio’s three thoroughbred tracks (Belterra Park, Mahoning Valley Race Course, Thistledown) or sons/daughters of both frontside or backside employees at any Ohio thoroughbred racetrack who are graduating from high school in 2018 and enrolling in any Ohio college either in the summer or fall of 2019. Fabulous Ohio University Scholarship Offer for Sons or Daughters of Ohio Trainers
Thanks to the generosity of a former Ohio HBPA board member, the Ohio HBPA is
proud to partner with Ohio University in offering a terrific scholarship
opportunity for sons and daughters of Ohio trainers.
The scholarship will include full tuition, room and board at Ohio University and
is renewable for 4 years. Eligibility requirements include being the son of
daughter of a trainer who has been licensed for at least five years and is
currently racing horses in Ohio with a minimum of 5 starts in each of the past 5 years.
The student must also be a resident of the state of Ohio and graduate from an Ohio high school. The student must also apply to and be accepted to the Ohio University Athens Campus.
Any student who is graduating from high school in 2019 and meets the
above requirements must apply to the Ohio University Athens Campus during the
