Southern Park and Howard B. Noonan Stakes Rescheduled for April 13th

The Ohio State Racing Commission has approved a request from the Ohio HBPA to reschedule both the Southern Park and the Howard B. Noonan Stakes to Saturday, April 13th at Mahoning Valley Race Course.

The Southern Park, a 6 furlong event for Ohio Registered 3-year-old fillies was originally scheduled for March 21st. The Noonan Stakes which runs at 6 furlongs for Ohio registered 3-year-olds was originally scheduled for April 4th.

Both stakes have been moved due to the quarantine situation at Mahoning Valley Race Course. Barn 4 is quarantined due to Strangles and barn 8 is quarantined due to Equine Herpes Virus. Due to these quarantines the Ohio Department of Agriculture is not allowing horses to ship into or out of Mahoning Valley. Provided there are no more positive cases in either barn the quarantines will be lifted prior to April 13th giving all horses which are eligible to these stakes races the opportunity to participate.
